Felni ¤ Choosing wheels

Egy autót két dolog tud elrontani: rossz szín és rossz kerék. A színen sokat agyaltam, de a felnin még többet. Eleinte a Sárgáról megmaradt eredeti (!) BBS Le Mansokat (7,5x17 5x112 ET40) akartam megtartani, aztán változott az elképzelés. Keztdem úgy érezni, hogy a 17" nem passzol az old schoolhoz és a tőcsavaros Porsche tárcsafékek miatt is könnyebb lenne az élet 5x130-as kerékkel.

 

Wrong colour and wrong wheels are the biggest blunders on any car. It took a while to figure out the colour but finding the proper wheel was a nightmare. Initially I was planning to keep the original BBS LMs (7,5x17 5x112 ET40) saved from the YelloVW than I changed my mind. On one hand the bug was going to built in old school therefore 17" was too modern, on the other hand life would be much more easier with 5x130 becuase of the studed Porsche brakes.

 

 

 

A Porsche felnik feladták a leckét. A modernebbek túl nagyok (17-19"), a klasszikusok túl kicsik (15"). A Bogárhoz legjobban passzoló 16"-ok nem túl szépek, sokuk áldozatul esett a '80-as évek divatjának:



Modern Porsche rims are usually17-19", the classic ones are 15" and the selection in between is very limited. Moreover I'd hardly call any of them nice...

Legjobb választásnak a Mahle tűnt, de csak 15"-ben találtam eladót. Aztán felbukkant egy számomra ismeretlen felni, a Fondmetal 2600 / Fondmetal Basket. Majdnem mint a Mahle, csak íveltek a küllői és tökéletes a mérete: 7x16 ET21 & 8x16 ET11. Grátiszban jár hozzá egy Rial, hogy legyen mire tekerni a slagot :)

From the list above Mahle seemed the only option but there were only 15s for sale by that time. Than some unexpected rims showed up on ebay, the Fondmetal 2600 or Fondmetal Baskets. Theese were optional wheels of the 944 in the '80s, they are similar to Mahle but I like the curved spokes much more (reminds me to the BBS E30) . Also the size was just perfect for the staggered look: 7x16 +21 & 8x16 +11. In extra I got a fifth rim (it is Rial), how great it will be for the garden hose! :)
